The history of Swissdent

Swissdent was founded in 2006 by Dr. Vaclav Velkoborsky, D.D.S. Drawing on his daily experience as a dentist, he identified a key problem: Many patients wanted white teeth, but aggressive whitening methods often led to tooth sensitivity or damage to the enamel.

The solution was the development of a toothpaste that whitens without causing harm. Instead of using coarse abrasives, Swissdent relies on enzymatic cleaning and mineralizing ingredients. This gently polishes the tooth surface and preserves its natural shine—without any abrasion or sensitivity.

Swiss quality with a scientific basis

In 2005, Dr. Velkoborsky began developing a novel, patented formula based on the latest scientific findings. The goal: a toothpaste that meets the highest standards of effectiveness, tolerability, and aesthetics.

What began as a gift for his patients quickly became a success. The toothpaste—now known as SWISSDENT EXTREME—was so well-received that Dr. Velkoborsky founded Swissdent Cosmetics AG in 2006. Today, the company employs a specialized team of researchers and dentists and holds several international patents for its innovative products.

All Swissdent products are 100 percent manufactured in Switzerland and are subject to strict quality controls—from the selection of raw materials to final packaging.
