Implants

When a tooth is missing, it’s not just a matter of aesthetics, but also of function. An implant precisely and permanently replaces the tooth root—providing a natural feeling when chewing and speaking. At Zahnkronenhalle Zurich, we combine modern digital dentistry with surgical expertise and the highest precision.

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant serves as an artificial tooth root and is firmly anchored in the jawbone. At Zahnkronenhalle, we use state-of-the-art digital implant planning to precisely determine the position, depth, and angle of the implant—with millimeter precision, gently and safely.

This makes the procedure minimally invasive and ensures an optimal aesthetic result. The implant serves as a stable foundation for crowns, bridges, or dentures and is virtually indistinguishable from a natural tooth.

Procedure of the implant treatment

Before the procedure, we create a precise 3D X-ray image of the jaw. This allows us to accurately analyze bone structure, nerve pathways, and available space. Using computer-assisted digital implant planning, the implant position is virtually determined before the procedure even begins. This enables safe, predictable, and particularly tissue-preserving treatment—in keeping with modern implantology. The fabrication of the dental prosthesis can also be digitally planned and machine-milled directly in the office using CAD/CAM technology, resulting in a higher fit accuracy and lower costs.

Advantages of implants

Digital dentistry has revolutionized implantology. Precise planning reduces risks, shortens surgery time, and ensures rapid healing. The procedure is minimally invasive, preserves healthy tissue, and results in a perfect fit for the dental prosthesis. An implant provides a secure hold, a natural appearance, and a long lifespan—often lasting a lifetime with proper care.

FAQ on digital implants

With a digital implant, the entire treatment is planned using state-of-the-art 3D technology. This allows the position and angle of the implant to be determined with precision before the procedure begins. Unlike the conventional method, this makes the treatment safer, gentler, and yields a more precise aesthetic result.

With proper care, a dental implant can last for many years, often a lifetime. Titanium and ceramic are very well tolerated by the body and form a strong bond with the bone. Regular checkups and professional dental hygiene help keep the implant healthy in the long term.

Thanks to modern digital implant planning, the procedure is minimally invasive and very gentle. We use local anesthesia or, if you prefer, nitrous oxide, so you can relax during the treatment. After the procedure, you may experience slight swelling, which subsides quickly.

In general, dental implants are suitable for most patients whose jawbone is sufficiently stable. A dental implant can also be placed even after tooth loss due to an accident or illness. If necessary, bone grafting can be performed beforehand—precisely planned using our digital diagnostic tools.

After implantation, there is a short healing period during which the implant fuses with the bone. The final dental restoration is then attached. We support you with personalized aftercare, regular checkups, and tips on dental hygiene—to ensure your implant remains stable for the long term.
